Prof. Adams is the founding Centre Director and visionary of the Regional Transport Research and Education Centre Kumasi (TRECK), a World Bank Centre of Excellence in transport and mobility for West Africa and also Leads the UKAID/ReCAP supported Centre for sub-Saharan Transport Leadership (CSSTL). Both Centres are hosted at the Kwame Nkrumah University of science and Technology, Kumasi.
Charles has over 25 years’ experience as a researchers and transportation practitioner in Ghana and Africa. He is a Registered Professional Engineer, a Fellow and the President Elect of the Ghana Institution of Engineering. His expertise and interests are in traffic and transportation infrastructure systems planning, modelling, design, construction, monitoring and maintenance.
He is a multiple grant holder and manages a grant portfolio of 7 million US Dollars in the last 5 years, from the World Bank, SWISS State Secretary for Economic Affairs (SECO), UKAID and Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF).
Dr Adams has worked as Consultant on several projects in Ghana, Republic of Sierra Leone, Uganda, Liberia funded by the World Bank Group, European Union, the GTZ, JICA.
He has organized, chaired and presented at many conferences worldwide and is a sought-after conference speaker. He is a minister of the Gospel of Christ, a Lay President and a LABBLAM Board Member of the UD-OLGC denomination.
