Get Involved Challenge 2025

The GIC 2025 Planning Committee in collaboration with sponsors announce the Get Involved Challenge 2025. This competition is open to all students at the primary, high school, or tertiary levels in Ghana with an interest in infrastructure development. There are three competitions this year, one for each educational level. Finalists are invited to the GIC 2025 Conference where winners are announced during the Awards Ceremony.

Group 1 - Primary and JHS

Draw a picture of your local area illustrating what you would like to see in the next 5 years. Include a 500-word narrative of what it would take for it to materialize.

Group 2 - SHS Level

Develop a 3-page minimum narrative of how you will engage your peers to incorporate ethical reasoning into an infrastructure project of your choice. Illustrations and local examples are encouraged.

Group 3 - Tertiary Level

Identify an infrastructure project of your choice and develop a 10-page minimum photo report describing what was done, what lessons can be learned, and the role of ethics at each stage of the project's development.

Winner - GHC 3,000
First Runner Up: GHC 1,500
Second Runner Up: GHC 1,000

Challenge Parameters: SHS Level

Identify the purpose and goal of the project.
Identify key stakeholders, beneficiaries and impact communities of the project.
Be creative and develop ways to convince your colleagues on why and how to incorporate ethical reasoning into the project's development efforts.
We encourage working in groups.

Challenge Parameters: Tertiary Level

Identify and define the vision and goals of the project.
Present an understanding of the project's purpose and key stakeholders.
Identify, discuss and solve the challenges of incorporating ethics at each stage of the project development process: planning, design, construction, and operation.
Prepare an engaging and illustrative report.
The project may address one or more of the following: safety, rural accessibility, connectivity, urban movement, preservation, environmental impacts.
We encourage working in groups.

Evaluation of Submissions

Demonstration of an understanding of the topic area
Quality of presentation and writing
Demonstration of creativity and innovation
Clarity in thought process and justification of approach

Selection and Recognition

Submissions would be judged by a committee established by the GIC Planning Team.
The top 3 finalists would be notified and invited to the GIC 2025 Awards Ceremony where the winner would be announced. Honorable mentions would be contacted and acknowledged on the conference website.
Press and industry announcements will be issued highlighting the finalists and winners.
Finalists will be provided one full conference registration towards one representative

Competition Timeline

All entries due by midnight of May 15th, 2025
End of June 2025, three finalists will be selected for each competition category.
Winners and runner ups to be announced during the GIC 2025 Awards Ceremony in August.
